Shoulder Pain Treatment at Movement Clinic

Specialist treatment for frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, and other chronic pain in the shoulders

Shoulder Pain Clinic: London

We rely on our shoulders for so many of the daily tasks we carry out. The trouble is, the upper arm bone and shoulder joint area is one of the most complex in the body - so even slight pain or weakness can be seriously debilitating.

With specialist physiotherapists, sports massage therapists, osteopaths, and strength coaches, the shoulder pain team here at Movement Clinic can use their combined expertise to work swiftly to ease your suffering and restore the full function of your shoulders.

You don't have to live with severe pain and reduced movement in your shoulders and upper body. Book a consultation today and we'll make sure you're on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.

Physiotherapy for shoulder pain

Physiotherapy is usually the starting point for any medical approach to shoulder pain. Physio is a manual therapy designed to restore the full range of movement in the shoulder, the affected arm, and even the surrounding muscles into the neck, chest, and back.

We take an entirely client-focused approach to physiotherapy for shoulder pain - carefully assessing your current movement and pain, your medical history, and the surrounding contributing factors - before putting together a detailed treatment plan.

Through every step, our expert physiotherapist will help you understand everything that's happening - from the underlying cause through to the effect that certain movements will have on restoring mobility and easing your pain. Ordinarily, we'll even be able to give you exercises and stretches to carry out at home - so your journey to recovery is as swift as possible.

Osteopathy for shoulder joint problems

Osteopathy is a therapy that focuses specifically on the joints - manipulating and moving them to restore movement and minimise pain.

Effective osteopathy relies on expert knowledge of the musculoskeletal framework - then combining this know-how with a combination of touch, physical manipulation, stretching, and massage to get your shoulder moving as intended.

With a joint as complex as the shoulder, it's completely understandable for you to want to know you're in safe therapeutic hands. That's why the osteopaths on our team are all registered with both the General Osteopathic Council and The British Osteopathic Association.

Sports massage treatment for shoulder problems

Sports massage focuses on soft tissue manipulation in and around the shoulder. A series of massage techniques are used to encourage blood flow, reduce inflammation, flush natural muscular waste products and breakdown the light scar tissue that can collect within muscles and limits movement.

These techniques loosen and relax muscle fibres - allowing the surrounding soft tissue to relax too, often immediately resulting in a greater freedom of movement and a reduction in pain.

Although termed 'sports massage' - this is a therapy that's designed for more than just sports injuries. Sports massage therapy is often used for occupational issues relating to the shoulders too - such as your posture at a desk, the way you wear or carry bags, and even the way you walk and sleep.

Physical training to strengthen shoulders

We understand that if you're suffering with shoulder pain now, a personal training session will be at the very bottom of your to-do list. However, as your rehabilitation progresses or as frozen shoulder treatment takes effective, enormous benefits can be felt from strengthening that affected area.

Muscle weakness in the shoulders is responsible for the majority of shoulder injuries - even shoulder dislocation problems. Our partner personal training team have the experience and knowledge you need to make sure your injury does not reoccur.

There are no busy public gym sessions or sharing equipment to worry about either. When you work with a personal trainer through Movement Clinic, you'll be have one-to-one rehabilitation attention in your own private pod-based training space.

What kinds of shoulder conditions do we treat?

We regularly work with a large range of shoulder injuries, including:

  • Rotator cuff tears

  • Rotator cuff tendon strains

  • Shoulder dislocation issues

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Bursitis

  • Shoulder blade fracture/separation problems (often in the AC joint)

  • Cartilage tears

  • Shoulder issues resulting from tennis elbow

We also have a detailed understanding and years of experience supporting people with rehabilitation following shoulder surgery.

Choosing the right treatment

At Movement Clinic, we offer a range of treatment types - but don't panic - we don't expect you to come to a consultation knowing exactly what's going to fix your shoulder pain.

We offer a range of treatments so we can make sure that we take all the way along the road to recovery. We'll careful assess your issue, look at the contributing factors, then work out exactly what's needed to treat your pain, restore your full range of movement, and avoid the problem occurring again.

Sometimes, a single type of treatment will fix the problem - but in other cases, we'll combine approaches at different stages of the journey, to make sure we get your back to fitness as quickly as possible.

In the rare instance that your shoulder problem requires more specialist attention - a surgical procedure for instance - we'll help you understand what your next steps should be and provide all our treatment notes so medical professionals have a head start.

Exceptional treatment options in a world-class setting

When you make an appointment with a shoulder pain specialist, it can be very difficult to know what kind of experience you're going to get. Some therapy providers work in large hospitals - where others often work from their own homes.

When you book with Movement Clinic, you remove any uncertainty. We have dedicated private treatment space just a minute's walk from Oxford Street and close to all major transport links.

What does a Movement Clinic shoulder pain consultation involve?

When you get in touch to book an initial consultation, you'll speak to one of our friendly team who'll find an appointment that fits your diary. We work before, during, and after normal working hours - and if it's more convenient, we can book a weekend appointment.

When you get here, your consultation will take place in our private treatment room. You'll talk to one of our shoulder pain specialists who'll ask a few questions about your issues and take time to answer any questions you have about any part of our business and your treatment.

We'll usually be able to start your treatment during the same session - so it's a good idea to come wearing comfortable sports clothing. Don't worry if you're coming straight from the office though - you're welcome to use our private changing area.

I had an ankle surgery 2 months ago and since I started my sessions with Regis Da Silva in the Physiotherapy center my recovery progress has been amazing! I’m so thankful, both the service and treat are excellent, highly recommended and also great location!

I got injured pretty badly in my groin and lower back after a weekend of surfing. Regis was quick in finding the exact issue and helping me to recover with mobility and rehabilitating exercises. I was able to get back to exercise much faster than I expected. I highly recommend Regis!

I saw Regis at Movement Clinic for a bundle of appointments over my knee injury. I have been satisfied with the physiotherapy sessions and the speed of my recovery. The sessions were excellent. Regis is very knowledgeable and professional. He guided me through exercises to improve the stability and strength of my knee, corrected my posture, and gave me a preventative exercise plan to avoid injury reoccurring. I can strongly recommend this clinic.
