Back pain is something that affects the majority of people at some stage in their life. As such, the best physiotherapists are also back pain specialists - with a deep understanding of these debilitating issues.
At Movement Clinic, we have a solid track record of delivering effective treatment for all types of back pain, including:
Studies often show that deep tissue and sports massage can be as - and often more - effective at reducing back pain than medication.
At Movement Clinic, we understand back pain. Whether it's a posture issue, an occupational problem, sports-related injuries, or even the result of a trauma like a road traffic accident; we can use a series of techniques specifically for the back.
Sports massage techniques are designed to target and reduce tension in the muscles and soft tissue that are causing your back pain. Often, this means you'll feel an immediate reduction in your pain.
Around the world, osteopathy is fast becoming the go-to treatment for back pain - especially when standard approaches often rely on powerful painkillers.
A significant part of why we see such success with back pain in our osteopathy London clinic is down to the wide range of treatment techniques at our disposal. Sometimes, very gentle techniques are required to avoid aggravating issues - but in other cases, stronger and more direct techniques are required.
Although we aim for immediate results, in-clinic treatment will always be complemented with plenty of professional advice on how you can handle your back pain outside of your sessions too. When you leave Movement Clinic, you'll be equipped with useful information about posture, stretching, and other activities that will help to treat current conditions and prevent further issues into the future.
Heading into a personal training session might be the last thing on your mind if you're dealing with back pain - but in reality, making your back stronger and more flexible is one of the very best ways to deal with pain radiating through your back.
At Movement Clinic, we have a specialist personal training partner on-site who can help patients suffering with back issues. Specialist rehabilitation training sessions will focus on muscle strengthening exercises that you more resilient - preventing back injuries into the future.
You don't have to worry about sessions in a crowded gym either. Our personal fitness partner will work with you in your own personal pod space - with your own equipment and a dedicated one-to-one service.
If you'd prefer to workout at home, we can cater for that too - with online training sessions delivered using cutting-edge software by trainers who are just as effective online as they are standing next to you.
Generally, the first thing that comes to mind when someone has a dull ache in their back is a couple of painkillers or some anti-inflammation medication.
While this can offer some short-term respite from pain, it's very rarely an effective solution - pain in your back will almost never go away by itself. When this kind of pain hangs around it can have serious consequences for your daily life. Pain affects everyone differently but often results in the following symptoms:
An inability to focus
Damaged mental health and wellbeing
Low or bad moods
An inability to get comfortable
A poor posture and range of movement
Damaged sleep
You don't have to tolerate these intrusions into your day.
You're just as likely to hurt your back picking something up from the floor as you are in road traffic accidents or sporting events. As such, it doesn't matter how you've ended up with a sore or injured back - what matters is how we tackle the problem going forward.
We will investigate every back problem individually - no matter your level of fitness or how the problem has occurred.
With the correct diagnosis we can decide on the most suitable treatment. Sometimes, a single form of therapy will suffice - but in other cases, a combination of therapies will make for a quicker recovery.
We don't deal with one-size-fits-all solutions here at Movement Clinic. Instead, we'll look at your back problem through a series of professional approaches.
Our team includes:
Osteopaths - registered with both the General Osteopathic Council and The British Osteopathic Association.
Massage therapists – with knowledge and experience at the highest level of professional sports.
Physiotherapists – each members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health & Care Professions Council.
When you get in touch with the Movement Clinic team, we'll start by finding a consultation time that works around your diary. We are open before, during, and after standard working hours - and if that doesn't work for you, we can arrange weekend appointments too.
When you get here, your consultation and assessment will take place in our comfortable and private treatment room. You'll be able to talk about your issue with one of our expert back pain specialists, and they'll tell you about the kinds of treatments we offer and what they think will be of most benefit.
We'll aim to start your therapy in this same session where possible - so it's a good idea to come in sports clothing. Don't worry if you're coming straight from the office though - you're welcome to change in our private changing area.
